ADULT EDUCATION
Bible Study  |  Forum

2009-2010: Westminster Presbyterian Church offers two Sunday morning classes for adults which are held from 9:45-10:45.  Our Forum meets the first Sunday of the month (except in September when it will meet the third Sunday.)  Our Sunday Morning Adult Bible Study is a smaller group which meets periodically throughout the year.  This fall we are also offering a Sunday evening program.

SUNDAY EVENING PROGRAM

BIBLE STUDY
Our Sunday morning Bible Study topic is a 10-week Interpretation study on Jeremiah.  The class is being led by Trish Hanna.

  FORUM
       “REACHING IN FAITH BEYOND OURSELVES
September 20 – "Sacrifice in the Old and New Testaments - Sacrificing Isaac, Sacrificing Jesus: Does God Require Sacrifice?"
 – David  McCreery and Lane McGaughy

October 4 – “The Galapagos Islands – Mary Snethen
Mary Snethen, a member of Westminster will be making a presentation on her trip to The Galapagos Islands this summer.  Be sure to come and hear more about this very meaningful experience.

 November 1 – “Summoned By God" (Jeremiah 31: 31-34) – Sandra Herring M Div
What was it like for the great prophets of the Hebrew Scriptures to feel compelled to break the silence of complacency; a willingness to confront issues of faithfulness, responsibility and hope for the future?  Jeremiah stands out as an example of provocation, but also hope.  Jeremiah was a radical critic of his time in the face of the threatening judgment of God. But, more importantly, he also saw and proclaimed the expectation of a peaceful Reign of God on this earth among nations.  Sandra will address: 1)the tension between what Jeremiah was given to know and the Divine Will, and 2)how Jeremiah came to know and feel the hope-filled vitality of God present and known.
